How to Sharpen an Edge Beveler

How to Sharpen an Edge Beveler

If you've ever wondered how to sharpen edge beveler blades, it's simpler than it looks. A sharp beveler glides through the corner of the leather; a dull one drags and tears. When the glide is gone, it's time — and it only takes minutes.

What You'll Need

A resharpening kit is included with your tool. That's all. No machines, no noise.

The Ritual

1. Strop the bevel

Draw the cutting edge along the strop in slow, even strokes — always away from the edge, never into it. Light pressure. Let the tool do the work.

2. Follow the bevel's own angle

Don't invent a new angle. Rest the bevel flat and keep it there. Consistency matters more than force.

3. Test on scrap

A sharp beveler leaves a clean, glossy curl of leather. If it skips or scratches, give it a few more strokes.

4. Little and often

Thirty seconds of stropping now is worth more than a full regrind later. Sharpen before the edge is truly dull, and it will never be truly dull.

Or Let Us Do It

Every Palosanto tool is handmade by one maker in Korea, with HSS-M2 blades built to hold an edge for a long time. And when stropping isn't enough, resharpening is free — for the life of the tool. Just send it home.

Made to order. Ships in about 3 days.

A sharp tool is respect — for the leather, and for your hands.
